This position is responsible for bidding, job award, and assist in the managing of projects ensuring optimal material purchasing, labor costs, and machinery usage.



  • Work independently and cooperatively to seek and obtain projects for the company by estimating structure steel and plate projects at profitable levels.

  • Engage cooperatively with company staff, including Executives, other Project Managers, Production and Shop Foreman to assemble documentation, prepare estimates and value engineer projects during the submittal process.

  • Review site or construction documents and define scope of work to bid.

  • Execute take-offs of production documents and utilize computer applications to expedite cost analysis of material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.

  • Work closely with Purchasing on cost effective project materials. Utilize Production staff to properly plan equipment capacity for each project.

  • Engage cooperatively with Project Managers, Production Managers and Shop Foreman to ensure profit goals are achieved.

  •  Assist drafting team with procuring all necessary information for conclusive fabrication prints.

  • Provide timely and accurate communication to management regarding in progress profitability, progress of production schedules, close-out status of completed jobs. Maintain daily Open Order Report.

  • Maintain productive relations with customers, general contractors, inspectors and suppliers to ensure we meet our company goal of delivering customer satisfaction and quality that meets or exceeds expectations.

Computer Skills: 

To perform the job successfully, an individual should be proficient with estimating, spreadsheet, e-mail and word processing software, and the use of the internet and wireless technology. Experience using E2 or similar ERP software is a plus.
